...honored*

"...think back to all historical figures. Who do you think would be honored to witness this particular inauguration?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I feel like Wilt Chamberlain would've been honored to have been present at the inauguration of President Obama on Tuesday. Wilt Chamberlain was one of the most dominating centers in the history of basketball. He filled up numerous pages of basketball record books with his talents. Chamberlain made many firsts for African-Americans in the game of basketball*, and I feel that because of that, he also made huge strides for African-Americans in general. The same goes for Obama: on Tuesday, Barack Obama was sworn into office as the first African-American president of the United States; something Americans thought would never happen. Wilt Chamberlain would have been honored* to have been present at this significant event in history.

{{takeoff}}

Thursday, January 15th, 2009.
3:26 p.m.
I'm on board US Airways Airbus A320, headed for South Carolina.
Our plane is pulling out onto the runway at LaGuardia Airport.
About one minute later, I hear a voice come over the intercom: "Brace for impact because we're going down."
Someone in the seat beside me said that we had just hit a flock of birds. Hmm...
The things that were going through my head at that point were outrageously crazy. I had no idea what was about to happen.
*All I could think to do was pray and hope for the best.
The passengers were told that we would be landing in the Hudson River. We hit the water pretty hard, but everything seemed to be okay.
Our pilot did a great job of evacuating the plane and making sure everyone was out.
I was out standing on the left wing of the plane, with 41 degree water up to my knees.
An hour later---> a ferry approached us and helped us to safety and warmth.
Words don't even begin to express how blessed I feel at this point.
...this was quite an experience!!

;] check it out!!

*My entire art class has been interesting this school year. I loved working on our four canvas project!! ^ I guess I could say it was because of the colors I used haha...but I really did have fun working on that project. We are currently coloring on our colored pencil drawings and working on Claymation. Our Claymation project is going to be pretty neat ;]... we've come up with a 'horrible' date scene where everything wrong seems to happen to a guy on his way to his date's house.* We're building clay people and taking pictures of them with our computers to put them all together in a movie at the end. My colored pencil drawing is of me sitting in the bluebonnets when I was two years old. It's going to take me a while to finish it, but I'm hoping it turns out cute!!*

in.10.years.-->

10 years from now, I hope to have graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Interior Design and be completely FINISHED with school. Finally! =] I'm hoping that my degree will take me around the world and I'll be able to get in a little bit of traveling...I think it'd be neat to intern in another country for a few months. I can see myself already being married to my prince charming and settled down in a cute little house out in the country.* I'm still unsure as to where I wish to live, but I guess I'll find that out soon enough!! I also expect to take a mission trip to somewhere in the next 10 years. --->
