"america's education"

I am totally against year-round school, which is exactly what our new Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, is trying to set in stone. He believes that sending us to school year-round will lower the drop-out rates, and improve the "competitive disadvantage" that some people think we have with India and China. Sending kids to school for the entire year won't necessarily make them smarter. I don't quite understand how the man has come up with this plan...but honestly, sending us to school for a longer period of time will more than likely increase the drop-out rates. Actually, in a lot of cases, kids drop out of school for reasons that the school has no control over...maybe Mr. Duncan should look into fixing those problems first.*
